LAC Corporation (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Itsuro Nishimoto; hereinafter LAC) and TRIART Inc. (head office: Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; CEO: Kentaro Imazu; hereinafter TRIART) have agreed to jointly develop a secure data-use platform using TRIART advanced XCOA (Cross Core) technology. Their aim is a new approach to data security that can support Society 5.0, promoted by the Japanese government.
The government is accelerating its Society 5.0 initiative to create a new data-driven society. However, cyberattacks are growing more intense and sophisticated every day, and there are concerns that conventional countermeasures cannot provide sufficient protection, becoming a major obstacle to Society 5.0. Companies and organizations have implemented numerous security measures at network gateways, servers, and other points under the banner of defense in depth. Yet in a future society where many kinds of data are connected, the most effective measure will be to ensure that attackers cannot access data even if information is leaked.
LAC was one of the first companies in Japan to launch an information security business. For many years, it has provided security services such as consulting, assessments, and operational monitoring to major companies and government agencies, while conducting research and development from foundational security technology to commercialization.
Even before blockchain became widely known, TRIART developed systems using “secret-sharing chain technology,” which distributes encrypted information so that the fragments alone cannot be decrypted. We have extensive experience developing systems that easily prevent leaks in confidential operations, remote medical systems for smartphones requiring strong security, and the network infrastructure supporting them. These solutions are being developed and adopted in Japan and around the world.
LAC and TRIART have begun joint development of a secure data-use platform for the Society 5.0 era using XCOA, an encrypted data-distribution chain technology that can be combined with blockchain. Once this technology becomes widespread, it will enable secure operation of autonomous driving, which has already been the subject of many demonstration projects, and new financial systems represented by virtual currencies.
LAC and TRIART believe that wider use of XCOA, a technology developed in Japan, is essential to realizing the dream of a prosperous future envisioned by Society 5.0. By bringing together the strengths of both companies, we will work toward that goal.
■ Main areas of joint development
(1) Establishing methods to apply a next-generation data security model to business through a new approach
(2) Establishing data encryption and distribution technology that applies blockchain and delivers practical speed and functionality, going beyond encryption of transmission paths alone
(3) Establishing data management methods using distributed encryption technology
