The image comparison system “MIIDEL” now features AI-powered automatic analysis functionality

~ Efficiently detects small differences that are difficult to discern with the naked eye~

TRIART, a research and development venture company in the field of information security (located in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, CEO: Kentaro Imazu, hereinafter TRIART), has introduced AI image analysis for feature detection and distortion correction to their image comparison system “MIIDEL”, and has now started offering it as “MIIDEL version 3”.

MIIDEL is a image comparison system that eliminates oversight of changes difficult to identify by eye in the review of new and old drawings/documents. Since its release in April 2016, it has already been adopted by over 200 companies. It is widely used in various situations, including checking for changes in drawings on-site, especially in the construction industry, comparing cost estimation drawings with contract drawings, and comparing construction drawings with design drawings.

In response to customer demand, we have released a new version, “MIIDEL version 3”, with further expanded functionality. In version 3, the system automatically recognizes the features of the documents to be compared, detects similarities, corrects any distortions, and then performs the comparison process. With this feature, it is now possible to compare documents that were difficult to compare previously, including those of different sizes or those with distortions from scanning or digital camera capture. The detection of changes between documents, which was previously challenging, has simplified the image comparison process. Not limited to drawings, the system’s applications have expanded to include the comparison of routinely handled documents, quickly and efficiently detecting small changes that are difficult to identify by sight. This system is now usable across a wider range of industries.

【About MIIDEL】

In the construction process of buildings, it is crucial to plan according to the design drawings and ensure accurate information transfer to downstream processes, from the creation of construction drawings for each specialty post-estimation to the construction phase. However, the manual transfer of drawings can lead to oversights and transmission errors, potentially causing significant rework or ordering mistakes during construction. Responding to such feedback from the field, MIIDEL was born as a system that “efficiently and clearly highlights changes” (Reference Material 1).

【About MIIDEL version 3】

With version 3, the automatic analysis feature allows for quicker and easier comparison of drawings. Even drawings with different scales before and after changes are compared after adjustments such as optimal zooming, rotation, and partial stretching. It is now possible to automatically adjust multiple pages, allowing for other tasks to be performed during the comparison process (Reference Material 2).

Users have shared feedback that their operational efficiency has improved, thanks to the system’s ability to clearly display changes not only in drawings but also in specifications and quotations (Reference Material 3).

Furthermore, the ability to automatically adjust sizes has made it possible to compare files of different sizes. This includes comparing scanned images with PDF drawings, and comparing aged blueprint drawings with photos taken with smartphones, enabling applications beyond traditional image comparisons (Reference Material 4).

【Reference Material 4: Comparison of different images (plumbing and sanitation equipment images and structural images)】

Thus, MIIDEL version 3 has a broad range of applications beyond just images, including the comparison of various documents. It is used as a system to efficiently detect minor changes. We hope that it will be utilized across a wide range of industries as a solution that reduces the workload of those involved and contributes to the “work style reform” advocated by our country.
