TRIART enters the field of mobile telemedicine system development

~Providing a telemedicine consultation system using iPhone and iPad~

TRIART,INC. primarily engaged in research and development of new technologies and consulting using IT (located in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, CEO: Kentaro Imazu), has recently provided a telemedicine consulting system to Aso City National Health Insurance Aso Central Hospital (Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture) and Kumamoto University Hospital (Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture).
The system has been fully operational since April of this year. Leveraging our accumulated expertise in mobile-related technologies and mobile system development, we will actively propose the use of mobile technology in the medical and healthcare fields.

■Introduction to the System Provided
The telemedicine consultation system recently introduced at Aso Central Hospital is designed to facilitate immediate care for emergency patients arriving during periods when specialists, typically dispatched from Kumamoto University Hospital, are not on-site. It enables the hospital staff to directly contact designated physicians at Kumamoto University Hospital using iPhones or iPads via the FaceTime feature. This integration with the hospital’s medical information system allows for the secure transmission of vital signs and medical images, ensuring that emergency patients receive prompt advice and instructions for treatment.

The system was designed with the primary goal of making the entire process of calling the remote specialist, transmitting various medical information, and receiving treatment instructions as simple as possible and providing excellent usability.
In the medical field, where rapid action and decision-making are critical, it is a significant challenge for the telemedicine system to provide accurate and efficient instructions without interfering with the medical procedure.

Our company has developed and accumulated know-how in creating user-friendly mobile systems and services, and this expertise has now been applied to the field of telemedicine. Furthermore, while traditional telemedicine systems often require significant investment in costly equipment, our system distinguishes itself by utilizing iPhones and iPads as client devices, enabling implementation without significant capital investment.
Although numerous viewers for radiographic images (DICOM format) have been developed for iPhones and iPads, our company has integrated a proprietary image brightness correction engine to allow viewing of radiographic images on iPhones and iPads with a contrast similar to that of medical monitors(※1).

■Future Outlook
With the rapid proliferation of smartphones and smart tablets, there is growing anticipation for the utilization of mobile technology as a key component of social infrastructure. Practical application in the fields of medicine and education, in particular, is considered urgent. We plan to develop numerous systems that effectively utilize our accumulated know-how in mobile system development for the medical and educational fields.
