TRIART Inc. (head office: Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; CEO: Kentaro Imazu; hereinafter TRIART) has developed a pilot version of a provisional image-based inspection support system. The system uses a camera to detect target text and images on product packaging and displays differences from master reference images. Testing will begin.
TRIART has used its original Composite AI*1 technology for highly accurate image recognition to provide MIIDEL*2, an image and drawing comparison system that instantly detects changes between old and new documents that are easy to miss by eye. We have also developed a defect early-warning system*3 that detects defects such as cracks in parts from thermal camera images at manufacturing plants.
We have received many requests for support with inspecting large volumes of manufactured products by comparing label information on each item against a master reference. In response, we developed the pilot version of the provisional image-based inspection support system. We will begin operational testing with selected companies to verify accuracy and usability at inspection sites.
In this pilot, a camera attached to a PC*4 automatically finds target text or images, compares them with master data, and displays and records difference images and matching rates. Unlike stationary desktop PCs or factory-integrated systems, it is designed for laptops and tablets, bringing mobility and real-time performance to inspection work. Automating visual checks performed by people is expected to greatly reduce the time and cost of work.
Through this operational test, we plan to make the system broadly available in manufacturing, quality control, accounting, and other departments where inspection work is performed. We will incorporate test results, further optimize our Composite AI engine, and aim for an early release of the product version.
*1 Technology name: Composite AI ‘4CAS’. Composite AI means ‘Composite Artificial Intelligence’. It consists of a series of multiple control system AIs and has a proven track record in processing qualitative sensory information that is difficult to quantify, simulating human sensory judgments.
